Happy New Year! Last night we had our annual Chinese New Year celebration and it was wonderful. As always, my in-laws spent all week prepping and cooking which resulted in a spectacular meal. As soon as we walked into their house everyone swarmed around the food like moths to a flame.
I thought you might enjoy a glimpse into the Chinese side of my family. I am such a lucky girl to be able to experience the Chinese culture so intimately and my children are so lucky to have one foot inside each culture.
Below is just a sampling of all the food they made…I was too busy enjoying it to photograph every dish.
Gong Xi Fa Cai / Gong Hey Fat Choy!!!
P.S. Can you believe my mother-in-law is 70?!?!?!?
Everything looks amazing! Is it all vegan too??
While it wasn’t all vegan, they made sure there were a lot of vegan options for me. They take care of me 🙂
That’s awesome! Chinese was one of the foods I was sad to leave behind when I went vegan, but I’ve managed to veganize some dishes to satisfy my cravings! Please share some with us when you can.
Hi Grettie,
What a sweet family! And everything looks AWESOME!! Any chance of getting some recipes? Or at least a good vegetarian/vegan Chinese cookbook reference?
I will have to see if I can come-up with some of their dishes…they cook without recipes! I wished I had a good vegetarian/vegan Chinese cookbook reference, but I have only learned through watching them. Come to think of it, I really haven’t posted any Chinese recipes. Time for me to get working on that. I make a mean fried rice!
Looks delicious, Gret. Happy Chinese New Year. XO. Mom
Happy New Year!
Vegan recipes to follow?
I wished…they cook without recipes. I will have to try and recreate some of their dishes. The noodle dish is legendary. Everyone always asks for them to bring that dish to parties and then I have to swoop-in and grab some for my kids before it is gone. Good stuff!
Happy New Year! What a wonderful looking spread. Great health, wealth and happiness to you and yours 🙂
The same to you 🙂
that looks like an amazing feast!!!! Xin Nian Kuai Le, Gong Xi Fa Cai! 🙂 xoxo
Oh, to have eaten it all! Nice to see the family. Happy New Year, Carrie
Happy Luna New Year! I don’t usually celebrate since I just don’t know what to do, but this looks like such a delicious feast, I think I should start a new tradition!
Hey Amazing Sis!
I’ve tried to post here many a time. Let’s see if I get through (probably a provider issue).
Your dinner looks amazing! You, Yeye, and Nini have outdone yourselves. You are making our tummies grumble. And the colors are gorgeous.
We wish you and your family a lucky, fun, and prosperous New Year. We love and miss you. Please give everyone our love!
