Roasted Broccoli and Cauliflower

Roasted Veggies always taste so good.  This recipe is another easy one and so basic…preheat the oven, clean the veggies, mix in a tiny bit of oil and spice, pop it in the oven, and by the time the table is set they are ready to go.

 
INGREDIENTS 

1 head of broccoli

1 head of cauliflower

Simply Organic garlic salt

olive oil

Preheat the oven to 425°

Cut the broccoli and cauliflower into florets (save the stems for juice).

Wash the florets in a colander.

Spin the florets in a salad spinner to get rid of any excess water.

Place the florets in roasting pan and coat LIGHTLY with olive oil.  Season the florets with garlic salt.

Put the roasting pan in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until tender and golden brown.

  4. My husband, our two little boys and myself LOOOVE broccoli and cauliflower. I have not roasted it before though. We usually just lightly steam it. Will have to try it this way soon.

  6. Is there a reason why folks don’t like eating the broccoli stem? It’s my favorite part… grew up with my mother just peeling the outside (tough) skin, cutting it up, and adding it to the rest of the dish along with the florets…. just wondering. 🙂

    • I love them too, but when time is limitied for me I just save them for juice…the peeling, etc. takes more time than just cutting off the florets. We LOVE the stem here too 🙂
